Dr Ruchika Kaul-Ghanekar specializes in Biotechnology and Cancer Biology. She holds her PhD degree from National Centre for Cell Science (an autonomous institute of Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India), University of Pune. She has worked in prestigious organizations that include Interactive Research School of Health Affairs (IRSHA), Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Agharkar Research Institute (an autonomous institute of Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India), Dept. of Biotechnology, University of Pune. She has been a recipient of DBT post-doctoral fellow, Best Researcher Award in 2011 at Bharati Vidyapeeth University.
She has a vast research experience in the field of testing drugs for anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo models and has completed a couple of clinical studies as well. Her research focusses on understanding the crosstalk between cell signalling, metabolism and epigenetic pathways in cancer. This would lead to development of novel therapeutic strategies to reprogram and prevent cancer development.
Dr. Ruchika has been a member of Ministry of AYUSH, Unani Scientific Advisory Committee, Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College Ethics and Homeopathy Ethics Committees, Chairman Nanobiology in MTech Nanotechnology Course of Bharati Vidyapeeth Engineering College, etc. She has supervised several PhDs, Medical/Dental/Ayurvedic/Homeopathy/MTech Nano students and mentored few postdoctoral fellows. Her research work is published in several reputed international journals and she has one Indian patent to her credit.
Dr Ruchika has joined Symbiosis Centre for Research and Innovation (SCRI), the research promoting unit of Symbiosis International University (SIU), in the new role of a Director. Her work will be to help researchers to achieve excellence in their work, eventually benefitting the society at large. This will complement with the SIU’s vision of creation of knowledge for the benefit of the Society into reality.
